Following on from last week, the theme tonight at 6:30pm is: putting together striking combinations (it was hands and feet last week), this week we are also incorporating knees and elbows… so, all weapons on deck!
Note for parents, the first kids class of next term will be on the 28th of July. This falls on an adults grading, which means that the kids class will need to start at 9am.
So first kids class of next term is Saturday 28th July at 9am. All other kids classes will be at the usual 11am. Thank you all for your understanding!

Last Tuesday Sifu said that tonight’s class was going to be seniors only, however he has decided to keep tonight at 5:45 pm as a Kicking class and Tuesday 17th (2 weeks from now) will be the seniors only (black belt and above) class.

The kids grading on Saturday was fantastic! Big congratulations to all of the children, their parents for their encouragement and of course to Damien and Russel – the main drivers of the program – and to Kenny who helped on the day.
Reminder to all parents that this Saturday (7th July) is the last kids class for the term. We will confirm next term’s start date by the end of this week, but as usual will be in alignment with the public school term. Reminder too that we are an approved Active Kids provider. So if you have not yet applied for (or redeemed) your active kids voucher then you are more than welcome to redeem yours for next term’s fees. (If you’re not sure what I’m talking about please reply to this email). If we don’t see you this Saturday, we hope you and your family have a wonderful school holiday!

Just a reminder of this week’s theme: Combat Flow Drills.
We are going to go out to 12 phases. It’s an intense, super fun way of training through fight scenarios and the ebb and flow of combat, plus a flow drill from larp sau drill to cross arm chi sau to double arm chi sau.

Last three things for today. Sunday 15th July is the knife fighting workshop $199 per person. Spaces are nearly all filled. Please get your name down and pay asap so we can ensure weapons will be available for all attendees. The next grading is July 28th and not to be missed. There will be 2 Red Belt presentations for two of Sifu’s oldest students, plus it’s our two year celebration in Redfern and it’s Sifu’s birthday weekend. So start thinking about your next belts.
Finally, this month’s promotions are: a raffle for a weapons pack (training Butterfly Swords, Kali Sticks, Staff and Stick/Staff bag) 3 tix for $10. And, 2 for one deal for any new students signing up – bring a friend and if you both join you only pay for one of you for the first month. If you are a current student and you bring a friend and they join, you get your next month’s fees at half price.

Not this Saturday but the following is the Kid’s Kung Fu grading. It’s on at usual class time (11am) but please be advised that it is likely the grading will finish beyond 12noon. Most students are all ready to grade to the next level. If you intend for your child to grade please register on the list at reception this Saturday.

BLUEPRINT OF WING CHUN
Hi guys,
Just a quick message to remind you to not miss tomorrow’s class. We’re going to be doing a profile on Wing Chun. All blocks, strikes, footwork, techniques, attacks etc. We will be pressed to fit it all in, but the motivation behind it is so you can quantify the system so you know exactly the volume of skills you need to master to become one.
It’s a must.

We are closed on ANZAC Day, so no classes are on. If you want to come in to do your own training let us know and we may be able to organise a couple of hours of Open Mat time.
The next grading will be after Sifu gets back from QLD. Either Saturday the 19th or 26th of May.
BJJ gradings will now be held on the Tuesday evening BJJ Foundations class prior to the grading date. So we hope to see more consistent steps forward in your progression with BJJ.
As promised during the Gathering last month, the first of the Gold belt and above workshops is scheduled for Sunday 29th April!
Parents please note: Kids class this Saturday will start at 9am!! (This is normal procedure for grading weekends).
Adults grading will kick off a little after 10am. Kids and Teens will grade at a later stage in the year.
Prices for grading are $90 for a full colour change (black belts add $20), $40 for tips only. BJJ prices are $40 for a stripe and $60 for full colour change.
(some may notice that there is a $10 price increase for grading… the price has not changed in nearly 10 years so we think this is reasonable).
We want the day to run as smoothly as possible for you so please get your names down if you plan to grade!!
