IN CASE YOU MISSED IT!

A wonderful surprise for Sifu at John Will’s BJJ seminar was to be awarded his Black Belt in Will/Machado BJJ. Andrew wrote a lovely blog that will do better than anything I could write so here it is: https://andrewn23-myma.blogspot.com.au/2017/10/new-black-belt-rick-spain.html you will also find Andrew’s write up of the seminar on that blog site too.

And Sifu has recently recorded a Vlog about the day that can be seen here: https://youtu.be/V7ZLiBB4HvI

Just a quick update about the mid-season grading, due to the fact that the time between the Summer grading and this one is too short, we’ve decided to cancel it. However if you have been prepping for a tip then please speak up! As we can readily accommodate a group tip grading.

Once again big congrats to Sifu, it means a lot to him and a great deal to the organisation as a whole.

See you on the mat.

The John Will seminar is open to and suitable for all levels of experience as we will be starting right at the beginning of 1/2 guard AND you have two BJJ sessions left this week to brush up on the basics of 1/2 guard as well. This is arguably one of the most important guards to know how to work with in BJJ. John is an amazing coach and it would be disappointing seminar to miss. Starts at 9am finish at 11, cost $80. Be sure to put your name down at the front desk. You can also register and pay online here: http://www.redboatkungfu.com/event/2223/

Kids start back up again this Saturday! We hope everyone has had a wonderful break and are ready to get back into training. It’s the beginning of a new term so if parents could please remember to either pay online or at the desk this weekend that would be great.

The Red Boat University is progressing smoothly ahead, everyone with Platinum and Instructor level membership now has access to all workshops and seminars. Recently made available are: Wooden Dummy, Forms Masterclass v1, Urban Survival Seminar, Butterfly Sword Seminar, Knife Combat Seminar, Chi Sau Advanced and Sifu’s book The Lost Art of Wing Chun is available to you for download. $25 foundation memberships are still available for Platinum level access – which means you get access to all material and updates with the exclusion of “Instructor’s Eyes Only”. If you are training at one of our schools already, the University is an invaluable tool for your at home training, training while travelling, grading preparation and mastery. If you are outside of access to one of our schools, this is your opportunity to learn, train, grade and progress through the most advanced and complete Wing Chun systems on the planet. We will be launching publicly within the next few weeks which pushes us through to the next price bracket, so there is limited time to secure $25 a month, simply go to https://www.wckfuniversity.com/pricing/ select the PLATINUM membership and enter coupon code REDBOATAUSCHOOLS .

See you on the mat.

LOADS OF FOOTAGE TAKEN AT THE SPRING GRADING! THANKS HANNAH AND SEAN!

If you missed it watch grading highlights video above. We have two school gradings before the end of the year, so stay focused. The mid season date is to be set, but the Summer grading is on the 9th December AND the Gold belt grading this year goes to Damien on Saturday 16th December. If you’re new to the family… this is not to be missed. Gold belts are huge. Bring friends and family too. Damien and his family are a big part of the school and this will make him the second in his family to get a Gold belt. Put that date aside. It’s a whole day event as we have our end of year party and awards presentation afterwards also.

John Will is coming up to Sydney for his second seminar with us this year (Sunday 15th October, 9am), so Andrew and March have been working on plenty of ashi garami/leg entanglement in their classes to prep us all for the occasion! He is a fantastic coach and you’d be crazy to miss it. The seminar is suitable for all levels, John walks everyone through each technique, though it would be ideal to get some classes under your belt before the seminar as it would only help you on the day.

GIRLS!! This coming Tuesday (Sep. 26th at 5pm) we are running a girls only BJJ class. This is an unashamed plug to get you into the mainstream BJJ classes, but first things first. We are looking at running these once a month to every 6 weeks as we know it may be difficult to get off work that early all the time. Plan is to either stay on for kicking class after or go out to dinner…or both! Either way, hope to see all the girls in on Tuesday at 5pm.

Foundation memberships are open to our interstate and international schools so if you missed the first release of foundation memberships for the www.wckfuniversity.com then there is still a chance to get in on a great discount of only $25 a month… a cup of coffee a week… just select the Platinum membership, enter coupon code REDBOATAUSCHOOLS then start training!

And lastly, while we do a little bit of advertising, with all of the projects we are managing… marketing the school can get a little neglected… so if you think you can help in any way… share a Facebook post, write a review, recommend us to a friend… any of these things over time can go a long way and really help this crazy family of ours grow.

Thanks guys!

If you are grading can you please pay cash tomorrow? I am grading so Sifu will be doing the transactions and it will make life much easier for him if it’s cash.

The 9am conditioning class is not on.

Kids class in shifted to 8:30am.

If you’re grading get in early to warm up, ensure you have your own water bottle and sparring gear ready to go for a 10am start.

If you’re not grading, be here by 10am, phones on silent, voices on LOUD.

Last hit out for grading practise tonight at 6:30pm with Vadim, will Facebook his class plan later today for those not prepping.

See you there!

Kids class is shifting to 8:30am this weekend due to the adults grading which usually runs to about midday.

For those who are grading, get in early to warm up! Rest on Friday, just light training, stretching, nothing too rigorous. Make sure you hydrate and eat well and healthy.

If you’re not grading make sure you’re in to support those who are! As they will be there for you when you grade.

Everyone’s put in a stellar effort in the lead up to this grading, you will all shine on Saturday for sure.

See you all then!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO GRADED! WHITE TIPS, BLUE-WHITES AND OF COURSE THE NEW BLACK BELTS!

Well done Toby and Matt, your hard work paid off. Well done to the white belts who graded for tips and level 2 you all passed and looked great!

Our hoodies will be ready tomorrow but I may not be able to pick them up until Monday, but ask me Saturday just in case.

Hannah is in good spirits and is on the iron palm, we all wish her a speedy recovery!!

We have 3 courses/workshops coming up: Urban Survival – Street Self Defence on Sunday 20th August at 10:30am $60; Spartan Fitness and Nutrition 6 week Course on Saturday 26th August at 12:15pm $199 (or $299 non members); and Iron Palm Workshop on Sunday 27th August 10:30am $199 (or $299 non members).

https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=282433&stype=41&sTG=28&prodId=10117

if you’re not sure of your login details email me (Amy) with your child’s name. Alternatively you can pay on Saturday.

This weekend the Children’s class is starting very early – 8:45am to 9:45am – due to the adults grading that starts at 10am and will run into the afternoon.

The Conditioning class is still on but also starting early. Meet at the Kwoon by 8:30am, bring training shoes as you will do part/most of your workout in the park behind the Kwoon.

Last Wing Chun class before grading is with Vadim at 6:30pm Friday.

Grading starts at 10am! Pack for it the night before, remember to pack all of your sparring gear. We need seniors on the mat as there are two students grading for Black belt. We need everyone in to support everyone who is grading for a new level.

Remember it’s also our 1 year anniversary in Redfern! So in good fashion we will be partying afterwards!! So be ready for that! We have an area put aside for us at the Abbotts Hotel just a short walk from the Kwoon.

(it’s also Sifu’s birthday on Sunday so let’s have a great turnout this weekend!)

Good luck all who are grading!!

Lastly, we are taking money for your hoodie orders as we are over the 20 mark, please get your cash in ASAP.

Thanks guys!

Such a great response from the BJJ Beginners Clinic on Monday nights!

We’re getting some fantastic turnouts at Monday’s 6:45pm class, well done everyone who made the first 4, for those who stuck that through you got a super revision last week and a finish! More to come these next 4 weeks.

Kicking and stretching on Tuesday at 6pm is going pretty well too, last week we looked at some great strength and speed training drills.

Beginners Kung Fu Course has been touched up a bit! We’re really enjoying teaching it and we’re seeing some great new students coming through – great work ethic, plenty of questions and all round awesome attitudes.

We’ve had quite a few girls join of late so we’re organising another girls day out. Sunday 6th August we’ll meet at the school by 10:30am (or 9:30 for BJJ) then we’re off to Coogee for the coastal walk to Bondi…which…well… we probably won’t make it to Bondi! But we’ll stop somewhere nice for lunch instead.

This Saturday is the Winter Wing Chun Grading. Starts at 10am, get in early to warm up. If you’re not grading come in to show your support! Looks like we will have a few Black belts going off this time too! So we will certainly need seniors on the mat for sparring.

Kids class on this Saturday will start at 8:45am. We don’t want to cancel their class so please come in early so they don’t miss their Saturday training!

This is also our first year celebration in Redfern. On the 30th July last year, we were celebrating the schools 30 year anniversary, then on the 31st of July we were moving out of Surry Hills. Two weeks later we started classes in Redfern. And here we are today celebrating one year in this fantastic neighbourhood!

It’s also Sifu’s birthday!!! So considering all of the above let’s go out and celebrate after the grading! We will leave straight from the school after the grading.

So there’s quite a bit happening. Let’s make this weekend amazing!
