if you’re not sure of your login details email me (Amy) with your child’s name. Alternatively you can pay on Saturday.

This weekend the Children’s class is starting very early – 8:45am to 9:45am – due to the adults grading that starts at 10am and will run into the afternoon.

The Conditioning class is still on but also starting early. Meet at the Kwoon by 8:30am, bring training shoes as you will do part/most of your workout in the park behind the Kwoon.

Last Wing Chun class before grading is with Vadim at 6:30pm Friday.

Grading starts at 10am! Pack for it the night before, remember to pack all of your sparring gear. We need seniors on the mat as there are two students grading for Black belt. We need everyone in to support everyone who is grading for a new level.

Remember it’s also our 1 year anniversary in Redfern! So in good fashion we will be partying afterwards!! So be ready for that! We have an area put aside for us at the Abbotts Hotel just a short walk from the Kwoon.

(it’s also Sifu’s birthday on Sunday so let’s have a great turnout this weekend!)

Good luck all who are grading!!

Lastly, we are taking money for your hoodie orders as we are over the 20 mark, please get your cash in ASAP.

Thanks guys!

Such a great response from the BJJ Beginners Clinic on Monday nights!

We’re getting some fantastic turnouts at Monday’s 6:45pm class, well done everyone who made the first 4, for those who stuck that through you got a super revision last week and a finish! More to come these next 4 weeks.

Kicking and stretching on Tuesday at 6pm is going pretty well too, last week we looked at some great strength and speed training drills.

Beginners Kung Fu Course has been touched up a bit! We’re really enjoying teaching it and we’re seeing some great new students coming through – great work ethic, plenty of questions and all round awesome attitudes.

We’ve had quite a few girls join of late so we’re organising another girls day out. Sunday 6th August we’ll meet at the school by 10:30am (or 9:30 for BJJ) then we’re off to Coogee for the coastal walk to Bondi…which…well… we probably won’t make it to Bondi! But we’ll stop somewhere nice for lunch instead.

This Saturday is the Winter Wing Chun Grading. Starts at 10am, get in early to warm up. If you’re not grading come in to show your support! Looks like we will have a few Black belts going off this time too! So we will certainly need seniors on the mat for sparring.

Kids class on this Saturday will start at 8:45am. We don’t want to cancel their class so please come in early so they don’t miss their Saturday training!

This is also our first year celebration in Redfern. On the 30th July last year, we were celebrating the schools 30 year anniversary, then on the 31st of July we were moving out of Surry Hills. Two weeks later we started classes in Redfern. And here we are today celebrating one year in this fantastic neighbourhood!

It’s also Sifu’s birthday!!! So considering all of the above let’s go out and celebrate after the grading! We will leave straight from the school after the grading.

So there’s quite a bit happening. Let’s make this weekend amazing!

OH AND HOODIES!

We would really like to get these hoodies ordered. It’s a little fundraiser for the school and they’re awesome quality, I’ve had mine for 2 years and they still look fresh. When you can buy a football jersey for an average of $120, $95 isn’t much for something that actually serves a function, we will postpone ordering the BJJ tees until Spring if that helps.

Tasmania’s Ethan Duniam will be fighting in Adelaide this Sunday 16th July in the Main Event of Diamonback FC3, so be sure to send your well wishes and support to your Wing Chun cousin. He was recently interviewed in Fight News Australia, click on above photo for the interview, or for our Facebook followers click on this link http://www.fightnewsaustralia.com/interview-tasmanias-ethan-duniam-has-accepted-his-role-as-invader-at-diamondback-fc-3/

Back at home now, Adrian Biagioni recently fought in an amateur Muay Thai event down south. Adrian and Sifu were very happy with his performance, he has some experience point fighting but this was his first fight. It’s a little unclear who officially won. On the day it was his opponent, but on cornerman.com.au it lists Adrian as the winner. You can see footage of the fight here http://www.cornerman.com.au/videos/video/adrian-biagioni-vs-liam-o-gorman

Knife Combat Workshop is coming up on Sunday July 23rd, don’t miss it, there will be a whole bunch of new drill for kills. This is an essential tool for your fight bag to protect you and your loved ones. Get your names down, open to friends and family.

Also, the Winter Grading stands for the 29th July so get your name down asap so we have your belt in stock. If your not grading put the day aside to support those who are!

See you on the mat!

Here’s the latest Theme of the Week video for you:

Knife attacks are second only to blunt force trauma attacks on our streets and domestically. It is simply imperative that we know how to handle this weapon.

We will be covering the 8 angles of attack/defence, sabre grip and reverse grip, the 12 angles of attack in sabre and reverse, defanging the snake, flow drills, disarms plus primary target areas, bleed out times and more…be there or die!!

3 hrs $60 members and members friends/family.

Book on our seminars page: http://www.redboatkungfu.com/event/

This week’s theme starts today so be sure to be in tonight! BJJ foundations clinic at 6:45pm also this evening! Remember Tuesday 6pm is currently a Kicking and Stretching clinic.

Please get your orders in for Hoodies and Tees! once we hit the 20 mark we will be taking payments to place the order – then it’s just a 10 day turn around.

What a great fight yesterday’s Pacman vs Horn was! So much controversy after though! Anyway, next Sunday is the Nunes v Schevchenko & Romero v Whittaker title fights with an awesome fight card, soooo….let’s all go to the Abbott after BJJ for lunch and fights??

See you all tonight!!

Kids Grading is on the Saturday at 11am – usual kids class time. Most – if not all – little ones are ready to grade, so if you want your child to grade then please make sure that they are on time and in uniform and of course ideally it would be great if a family member was there to watch for support on their big day!

There is a cost involved and it is $40 per child.

The next adults grading date has been decided. The Winter grading will take place on Saturday 29th July (conveniently the weekend of Sifu’s birthday). Matt Costain has been putting in a stellar effort in preparing for his long awaited Black belt grading, so looking forward to a great turnout and excellent result!

And last but not least, some better pics of the tees and hoodies that we are taking pre-orders for. We’re about a third of the way there to ordering both the hoodies and tees, so get your names down and deposits in asap so we can place the order before it’s too cold!

T-Shirts:

Pic of last Hoodie order. Same quality etc just adjustment of logo to Redfern.

Taking orders for tees and hoodies! We need a minimum of 20 hoodies pre-ordered and pre-paid before we can go ahead, same goes with the BJJ tees.

Hoodies are $95 each and come in navy, grey, asphalt and black.

Tees are $30 each colour variety shown above.

The sooner you get your orders and payments in the sooner we can order your gear!

Thanks guys!

Monday evenings at 6:45-7:15pm time slot will now be a BJJ beginner’s clinic So for those of you that have been sitting on the fence for Brazilian Jiu Jutsu, felt like you missed the boat or are keen to get your feet wet, stick around for the BJJ intro class on Mondays. Sparring can still carry on in the back half of the Kwoon.

Speaking of sparring, Wednesday evening’s Sparring clinic is returning this evening.

Sifu’s Ultimate Back Workout and Maintenance Workshop is on this Sunday at 10:30am so get your names down! Anyone who has had a back injury will know how important it is to look after your spine, and as a martial artist who loves training, there’s not many things more frustrating that being out due to injury. So come in on Sunday, learn how to strengthen, mobilise and maintain a healthy back.

Keep an eye out on our Tuesday 6pm classes, we will be seeing a return of it being a specialist class….watch this space…

See you on the mat!

Quick shout out for tomorrow’s Saturday morning class with Sifu. He will be running a sparring clinic, so please bring your gear: mouth guard, groin guard, 16oz gloves, fingerless sparring gloves, shin/instep guard and a level head!

See you on the mat!

Just a quick reminder that tonight’s 6pm class is for Black belts and above. Sifu has an awesome class planned for you all. For all other students, this only happens once every 1-2 months so all other Tuesday classes are for all levels unless stated otherwise. If you were wanting to get a workout in this evening and are not a Black, Gold or Red belt then come to the beginner’s 7:15 class, it’s still a great workout and no-one is ever above working on foundations.

Have a great night!
